  • Understand the fundamental concepts of artificial intelligence (AI), including its history, types (narrow vs. general AI), and real-world applications.
  • Explore key principles of machine learning and deep learning, distinguishing between supervised, unsupervised, and reinforcement learning, and identifying practical applications in image recognition and natural language processing.
  • Examine ethical considerations and challenges associated with AI implementation.
  • Analyze the regulatory landscape governing AI technologies and its implications for businesses and society, while also assessing technical, social, and economic challenges.
  • Forecast the future trends and potential implications of AI advancements on industries and the workforce.
  • Earn 5.8 hours of CPE for CPAs. 

Format:

The program will be hosted on campus at The University of Alabama in the Culverhouse College of Business.

  • Plan to be on campus from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm (Exact times will be sent with a finalized schedule).
  • Light breakfast, lunch, snacks, water, and coffee will be provided.

This program is not eligible for federal financial aid. No academic credit will be awarded.

INSTRUCTOR

Dr. Matthew Hudnall is a tenured Associate Professor in Management Information Systems and the Associate Director of the Institute of Data & Analytics.  Dr. Hudnall also serves as the University of Alabama’s Faculty Senate President. He received his undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Troy University and his MS and PhD in Computer Science from The University of Alabama. He is highly active in interdisciplinary funded research, having served as principal or co-principal investigator on over 70 grants totaling more than $40 million in combined funding. Dr. Hudnall currently serves as one of the two Alabama higher education representatives on the Governor’s task force on generative AI.
