This was an EXCELLENT program!!! I am so happy to have found and participated in this Emerging Leaders Series. Joe Calamusa is an engaging, entertaining, and enlightening educator! The discussions were practical and offered several perspectives and points to consider on real-world situations. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire program, and I am so happy I got to attend the last session in person. I'm proud to be part of the Culverhouse College of Business Executive Education family! This will not be the last program I participate in. 5 stars, absolutely recommend!
Joe Calamusa’s Four Forces for Influences has been one of the most impactful learning experiences that I’ve had for professional development. This engaging and insightful program has already benefitted my role here at UA, as well as industry associations I’m serving in as a leadership team member. The program focused on how to pour into others to receive your desired outcome, helping elevate instead of selling. Our session had several attendees both internal and external to the University, and the content was relevant and motivating for everyone across the board. This program will help cultivate leaders, no matter what the industry!

The Four Forces of Influence session with Joe was so helpful to me and my entire team! I initially thought it would be more for those of us in official leadership roles, but knowing how to communicate effectively and support people in varying relationships (direct report, leadership members, customers/clients/donors, etc.) was so helpful! It really could have been expanded to an all-day session, but he condensed such great info into the 2 hours, and it was a great learning exercise for our whole team!
I found the Business Communications and Storytelling session with Joe Calamusa beneficial and highly entertaining. As a 30-year communications professional, I appreciated Joe’s unique way of breathing new life into my thought process for storytelling. The day flew by, and I enjoyed learning about the different storytelling elements and how to structure a compelling story based on your intended audience’s communication style.
I truly enjoyed participating in the Culverhouse Executive Education session, The Science of Storytelling: Leveraging Storytelling to Drive Results. Joe Calamusa led an engaging, entertaining and extremely informative discussion proving that telling a compelling story is a science and not an art. Joe educated the participants on the four elements of storytelling and guided each of us through the process of identifying, structuring and delivering superior narratives. Utilizing these communication skills learned in this session, you will feel confident in your ability to drive results both internally and externally of your organizations.
Our recent training with Joe was an amazing experience. This professional development for division leadership ranged from first line supervisors to senior leadership. Joe was able to connect with each attendee in a meaningful way using his knowledge, experience and energy to illustrate some very important leadership concepts in the workplace. It was uplifting to see the constant engagement and attention. Every attendee I spoke with was very appreciative of the opportunity and information provided.
Facilities & grounds had two professional development training session on the topic of Four Forces of Influences. One group was management, while the other was front line supervisors. Joe did an outstanding job relating to the target audience in each group while still providing in depth understanding of the topic. The participants were engaged and participating for the duration of the training. I had numerous people come up to me in the weeks following the training telling me how much they enjoyed the training and how they are using the Four Forces in their communications going forward.
The Emerging Leaders Program was a highly engaging and worthwhile experience. Every session was practical and immediately applicable. From the very first session, I found myself putting the skills and concepts shared by Joe to work, both independently and in collaboration with colleagues. This program provided leadership insight that continues to shape how I work and lead every day.
Completing all sessions of the Emerging Leaders Series was an incredibly valuable experience. I especially appreciated how Joe challenged us to rethink how we would initially approach complex leadership scenarios and then guided us toward more thoughtful, effective strategies. The program encouraged me to be more intentional in my decision-making, reminded me to continuously evaluate my own leadership skills, and broadened my perspective on leadership. I feel that this experience has given me a significant head start and a clear advantage as I step into future roles that require a stronger leadership presence.
Continuous professional development is essential for success, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to be a part of Joe Calamusa’s Emerging Leaders Series. Joe is an energetic, engaging presenter with years of experience and specific examples for attendees to collaboratively work through. I was able to take learned strategies and directly apply the principles we touched on to better my own leadership style. I look forward to participating in a future Executive Education series.
